Saturn Retrograde in Aquarius June 4 - October 23
Saturn Returners, rejoice! This is the (almost) home stretch of your Saturn Return in Aquarius and the final Saturn Retrograde of 2022.
I know that retrograde seasons tend to get a bad rap, and yes, sometimes they suck… but I think Saturn Retrograde is the only one that actually feels like a breath of air compared to.. say… MERCURY retrograde who feels like a hurricane whenever she hits.
Saturn’s energy brings external, direct changes to your life in order to teach you lessons about setting boundaries, honoring your own energy, and connecting to your life purpose. Any time Saturn lines up in transit with a transformative planet of your birth chart (Uranus, Pluto, North Node), it can indicate some big changes are coming to your world. Also, when you enter your Saturn Return (usually sometime between the ages of 27 - 31, when the transiting Saturn lines up with your natal Saturn), it’s like these external real life situations go haywire and hit you 1000x. It’s not always bad stuff - for example during my own Saturn Return I got married, bought a house, got pregnant, started this business…- but it’s always things that will push you to see your strengths… the strengths that often get buried underneath your insecurities, fears, and years and years of deep family trauma.
So, with Saturn moving Retrograde on June 4, it’s normal to be a little apprehensive about what it means. Wow lucky for you I’m here to break it down.
Retrograde = time to rethink. It’s a time to reprioritize and realign with your goals and life path. In the case of Saturn, it’s a time when the changes to your immediate world could slow down… or it could mean that the big, shocking moments that happened over the last couple of years will reappear, reminding you to remain strong and reset your boundaries. Keep an eye out, but don’t be too bitter as you step into this season. This is just a time for remembering - remembering who you are, what you want, and what you do best.
In Aquarius energy, this retrograde is focused on big, community-focused changes. Aquarius energy is social groups, community networks, politics, social issues, environmental shifts, and advocacy. Aquarius is the energy of structural change. Now, think back to March 2020 when Saturn first shifted into Aquarius… Black Lives Matter and the beginning of the Covid-19 shutdowns are two of the big shifts I can recall from the time.
So, it’s fair to assume that this retrograde could bring up some energy related to these issues again. It could show us that there are deep lessons to learn that we haven’t learned yet. And before you start focusing outward on policy changes and laws and regulations… remember that everything that happens astrologically is actually focused on YOU. It’s about every human’s individual personal-growth. Yes, this growth (or lack thereof) shows up in things like policies and violence and social barriers… but the real change starts within.
